It was excavated with small exploratory cuts in 1928 by the English archeologist W.A Heurtley, while in 1993 a new excavation began by the German Archeological School, under the supervision of Dr. B. Haensel. The new excavation, which is now in course, has already brought to light very interesting finds of the prehistoric architecture and pottery. The cemetery was explored in 1992 by the XVI Tax Service of Culture and Antiquities.
